it serves as a great message, but if you are here for good characters - im afraid it isn't that strong in this regard.
the war theme is strong, the "what if?" shows how war reaches the absurd in terrifying way the theme being "americans vs americans". the story never tells you why these people are fighting one another, but perhaps that is the point: war is something mindless and don't need to make sense.

not the kind of guy to dwell on a movie in a review but i wanted to acknowledge its masterful presence.
the obvious positive thing is the acting, it's fucking brilliant, Lily was a pleasant surprise for me. Saw that many people took Orlok's design in this adaptation for goofy but I thought it was fitting and new, it just updated what Dracula should look like to me.
