Changeling 2008
Changeling is about as by-the-numbers as it gets. The protagonist has a conflict, they're stifled by the powers that be, they overcome that setback to achieve some kind of victory or retribution, the antagonist gets their comeuppance, the larger system is left largely intact (even in this), we tie up the loose ends, and that's a wrap! A perfectly structured screenplay!
This one is set against one of my favorite backdrops: 1930's Los Angeles. However it does pretty much nothing…
