Absolutely loved this. Feel like the negative reviews are from a lot of people who are used to having everything spoon fed and explained throughout. I’m always on board for movies who just SHOW you what is happening instead of telling you everything, makes it so much more engaging. I enjoyed spotting all the little nuances and slowly unravelling the insanity. Beautifully shot as well.
Also huge Alan Wake vibes which I’m absolutely here for.
I so badly wanted to love this but it just felt like something was missing. I can’t put my finger on what, but it lacked something. I typically love Eggers movies but I came away just feeling like it was just.. fine? No doubt it was beautifully shot, I loved all the shadow camerawork and actually thought the soundtrack was awesome. The pacing was a bit weird and I kinda just wanted a bit more gore and intenseness with the vampirism but appreciate maybe that wasn’t the point here.
Nosferatu’s moustache was dumb. Lily-Rose Depp’s performance was fucking excellent though.
