You ever tried to hold back sobs in a movie theater?
Seriously though, I was afraid this movie would be a depressing trauma dump, but I should have known Sarah Polley would be good to us. A really emotionally well-balanced film and just so so Good and Beautiful. A lot more hope than I anticipated, and I'm so grateful for it. The biggest, most cathartic cry a movie has ever given me (but importantly, not one I was emotionally manipulated into — the movie is too genuine for that). What a beautiful, tender film.
