  Although I am a lit student and a big fan of the novel, I am going to commit heresy and say that I (potentially) prefer the play. It's a 'version' rather than a straight 'adaptation', taking the bare outlines of Mary Shelly's novel and growing the seeds of ideas into a fully-formed drama.
