This was the widest gap I have ever experienced on the “how good the movie was” axis versus the “how much I enjoyed it” axis.

I feel so stupid and honestly kind of like a fake film fan for this, but wtf is with Coen brothers movies???? Is there something I’m missing? Like, this one was fine at best, but I think the humor is just beyond me? There’s no payoff of any kind, the tone is so inconsistent throughout, I just don’t get it and I never have. I am the same kind of disappointed every time the credits start rolling on one of these. Would love for someone to analyze me and tell me why I don’t enjoy these like everyone else. Surely I’m wrong somehow????? I want to understand.

At first I was shocked at how much I loved this, but how could I not? It was gripping, visceral, undeniably erotic, and had me completely hypnotized for two hours straight.

It was like my brain was just hovering. I can’t even explain it. I felt like I was watching it in the third person. Please note I was sober (but maybe I shouldn’t have been).

    I don’t feel like I just walked out of a movie.…
