  i think i'm just not a cinephile, and I'll have to learn to be one to appreciate this film.

  Subtextually, there's plenty of ideas to grab onto: the homoeroticism, the the critique on colonialism, surrealism, etc.

  Even with the sparse narrative (which I can take! I like "Middlemarch," I love "Villette") I feel like there's so much lacking in terms of character development and interaction. Perhaps this is due to the stitching of memories, but I just don't really buy…
