Okay loved. Andrew was polishing his Tony award up there. Willem (has Italian citizenship??) was giving Dafoe and dafriend. Zendaya always. Holland’s gone corporate, but I’m not crying over that. I LOVE A RADICAL QUEER MOVIE. Lizzie Borden is a model for white directors critiquing white womanhood without excessive virtue signaling. I love the way this movie works with plot too—it has a clear one, but its focus on character collage is what immerses us in the world, not the cause/effect trudge that genre and genre-adjacent movies are expected to have now. Community, collaboration, self-examination, queer affection, and a soundtrack that doesn’t quit? Sign me up again and again.

I love a tight little 90 minute anti-revenge thriller. The PNW ASMR and gentle rhythm never seem indulgent because the plot moves efficiently. I love the harsh cuts and strange focus more than the seemingly arbitrary ultra-shakey cam, but I thought the filmmaking and acting lent this tidy script a lot of heart. My two critiques are this movie is about the Dead Wife Boys and steals a plot device from Ratatouille. But in the end, it made me hungry, not for pork! :,)
