The stakes are just so low going in since we already know Saturday Night Live becomes Saturday Night Live, so the dramatic situation needed to be something more than just “will the show go on???” Well, it must have because they just had a 50th anniversary.
It also sucks that attempts to give the cast members some narrative arcs are pretty much reserved exclusively for the male cast members. Laraine Newman in particular deserves so much better.
