  Československá nová vlna at its best. 
  Forman is the reason I do film. Forman is the reason why I do film the way I do. The uncanny mixture of humour, tragedy, social commentary and observation of humanity are all Forman’s trademarks that he employed oh so well in his efforts back in Czechoslovakia. Every Slovak and Czech person is proud of Forman - the man who made it in America.

  What a fascinating and rich text, ready for interpretation! Not my favourite new wave film by any means, but I was very intrigued during all of its (short) runtime. I do feel like if you are not aware of the social and political context, you might just think this is the most pointless 70 minutes of your life. 
  No wonder this film was banned for years.
