Holy shit … what a ride … wanted to get into movies by female directors and being left impressed by babygirl directed by Halina Reijn, I got eager to see more of her work. Well well well watching babygirl then instinct back to back pretty much left me breathless. So much depth, so many layers to unfold. This game of is someone a good or bad person, can you trust someone, is your instinct always right, can people change?
Strongly executed film, slowing witnessing Nicoline (Carice van Houten) getting wrapped around the winger by Idris (Marwan Kenzari)…
I was really looking forward to this one, to getting spooked, to seeing a new take on artistic sexual tension. But it didn’t quite scratch the itch. 132 minutes of beautiful shots, cool shadow work, amazing historic costume, but still it didn’t really get me or led me to really feel for the characters.
Shoutout to Willem Dafoe who just always seems to bring interest and depth to the screen!
As a former goldsmith I really appreciated the scene of…
Saltburn ….
First and foremost the film has an intense amount of crazy, oddly beautiful, purposely posed cinematic shots. To the amount you could almost screenshoot every other second of the film and make a Instagram post out of it with *insert dramatic quote here*.
It felt the movie was more focused on curating cinematic shots than character development. ~ the character felt stereotypic and a little flat.
- Barry Keoghan did do a great job in serving us this twisted stranger nerd with a real sick mind.
