What a film! Characters so well crafted, found myself feeling for the naive kid Henry and hoping for him, laughing at moments like the way they spoke as they sat round telling stories and finding myself liking the character of Pauly. I loved that they introduced the members, so simple but so important.
Some beautifully shot scenes and awesome moments like De Niro simply standing there changing his facial expression. It seemed like Scorsese wanted people to get as far inside…
Thoroughly engaging and constantly moving and letting you in as the main character is let in and gets deeper and deeper in. The role of the man so well put together and well acted. I don’t want to spoil anything but loved the first glimpse into the layers of his character. Humour and pacing used well. Big life themes here of psychological well-being, satisfaction with life and the mother/daughter relationship the key. Felt like there was a bit of ‘sliding…
Really liked the character of the shell, felt for his plight and loved his savage comments.
