Yeah, this was really really good and just very well done. I don’t think I’m going to be thinking about it years from now but just a solid summer blockbuster. Robert Downey Jr. was phenomenal but I could have done with less of his scenes and more reel of Nagasaki and Hiroshima, I mean c’mon 3 hours and you can’t show more of what this did to Japan??

I understand why my parents wouldn’t let me watch this as a kid now, hasn’t all aged fantastically. Chuckling today thinking about Gene Wilder’s character being such a fast shot nobody even sees him move, gave me a genuine laugh here and there but it’s no Young Frankenstein

I feel there were parts of this that were brilliant. I also found a lot of it cheap, gratuitous and grotesque. But then I kept thinking that maybe just life is grotesque and David Lynch knows that its a gratuitous, cheap art form and what’s to make you see that. gave me horrifying nightmares last night, of course.
