  Had to rewatch my favorite of Bong Joon Ho’s English-speaking films before seeing Mickey 17 this weekend, and this movie just absolutely rules. It’s like a complement sandwich with how it starts and ends with heartwarming shots of how people and animals can coexist and depend on one another, but then it’s filled with the dark reality of how inhumanely people treat these creatures under capitalism. It’s bleak at times, it’s thrilling at times. The entire cast delivers and Bong’s direction is in a league of its own.

  Guy Pearce is so goddamn cool. It’s cool to watch Nolan’s early experimentations with structure, they typically impress me more than his newer, higher budget films (Interstellar being the exception).
