i think this film handles the relationship between adults and children beautifully — how adults attempt to understand and support children, who themselves are still learning to navigate the world.

the editing is so good, the cuts are unconventional sometimes but beautifully calculated, fitting. especially during the different literary works woven in where the score fades in, and a small montage plays. breathtaking.

looking back i think the film being in black and white is genius, it pushes you to focus on the characters and their emotions and intimacy. love love love
