The Boy and the Heron 2023
I don't have massive attachment to Ghibli films, and I've only seen a few. This one didn't have the cosy or familiar feeling that Kiki or Totoro has do, nor the wonderment or creativity of something like Howl or Spirited. Second rate Spirited Away is how I felt about it. Has the same quasi-horror elements to it that make it an interesting mix, and it's still an enjoyable watch with beautiful animation. I found it a bit difficult to follow at times.
Yes I watched it dubbed, I love Ghibli dubs. The cast here is insane.

The Last Showgirl 2024
Thoroughly enjoyed the performances and aesthetic of the film. The out of focus and muted colours of Vegas really worked for me, as well as Pamela and Dave's performances as real people. The costumes are also stunning, which I normally don't notice, but the way it's filmed made me really appreciate then.
I had no problem with the ending, we all know what happens after, and I only contributes to the overall pervasive sadness the film invokes.

A Cinderella Story 2004
It's always hard to watch a childhood movie through the eyes of someone who hasn't seen it before and doesn't have that emotional connection. Luckily it's kinda bad enough to have a laugh at, which is the saving grace. Jennifer Coolidge is on fire here though.
