This movie has been haunting my mind for days. Really incredible animation as always. Miyazaki does a phenomenal job portraying Setsuko’s childlike movement. The desensitization we experience as adults after dealing with countless tragedies is on full display in the callous attitudes the adults have towards the children. White Light/Black Rain: The Destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki 2007
While everyone knows in a very nebulous sense what the atomic bombs did/do, this gut-wrenching documentary makes sure you fully comprehend the kind of devastation and anguish that those bombs left in their wake in August 1945. The stories of these survivors had me sobbing on my couch and distraught over the possibility of it ever happening again.
