Even without the controversy, this movie would have been a pretentious mess. Zoe really tried but ultimately couldn’t save this from being somehow over and under written at EXACTLY the same time, and also the the most boring Oscar nominee I’ve ever seen.
Interesting premise til the film literally drives off a cliff.

5 stars for Brendan Fraser but the rest of the movie does not match his virtuosity. It felt like Aronofsky was at times uncomfortable in translating the theatrical origins of the script into a film.
