  This movie certainly made an impression on me as a teenager, but my previous rewatch left me somewhat cold. This time, however, I was spellbound. Finally seeing the Club Silencio scene on the big screen was just magical. Was nearly in tears over Rebekah Del Rio's showstopping Roy Orbison rendition, surely one of the single best musical sequences in film history.

  Kinda didn't feel this one on first viewing, but holy hell does it play better in a crowd. If you haven't laughed out loud with a room full of people at a guy cutting his own tongue off, you haven't lived.

  The tonal balance did still strike me as a bit odd, there's maybe a few too many slow parts for a movie as silly as this. But damn is it a lot of fun. Never have torture and sexual violence been so zany.
