The Pigeon Tunnel 2023
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
The heart of the film comes at the near end where Morris, in frustration at the unflappability of his subject, asks him what he thinks people want from him. Le Carré responds that they want him to be duplicitous, they want him to cry and rend his garments and reveal that he was a cruel man. They want to think there was indeed a man in the innermost room.

Struggle: The Life and Lost Art of Szukalski 2018
There’s so much here:
1. The group of like minded artists adopting an eccentric elder figure, and the ramifications that re-contextualizing brings to said elder.
2. The modernist artist who warped himself with toxic ideas of nationalism, and then has to live with himself for another 50 years.
3. The sour taste of said nationalist past being adopted by a new generation of nationalists in his home country.
4. Hints at how problematic and complex his legacy inside Poland is.
I just feel like this is a meditation on the dangers of Romanticism from a variety of directions.

The Wicker Man 1973
I've lost count of the times I've watched this film. Still, I find new things to be delighted by on each watching. They did such a unique job in building a society you want to know more about.
Reminder: extended version is the best version!
