Great for so many pop cultural scenes set in a past era. This is a moving story that tries to work from Eunice's perspective. We don't see much more than she does, sans a beginning scene where her daughter is searched by officers. We are often sitting with Eunice's thoughts, no words needed. A poignant character portrayal by a supremely talented actress.

The way she ate that finger like a chicken wing really floored me.

This movie topped off my summer of finding a roller derby team and trying out a few lessons. This sport takes so much muscle and grit, I feel like it captured that feeling. And trying to start over somewhere new is tough, I was rooting for her all the way! (Also cool how coed the teams are.)

Run don't walk to it it'll surprise you. This is more about abuse than drugs and I think it covered the crux of Suzanne's complicated relationships, not only with her mother. The ending result of Meryl belting it out was *chef's kiss*
