Mad Max: Fury Road 2015
I was expecting a mediocre action film. I did not find that. Mad Max: Fury Road is an exceptional action film, and it goes HARD. It is almost impossible not to get hyped during the film.
Unlike most post-apocalyptic films, it features vibrant colors, dynamic images, and simply beautiful visuals. Actions sequences are impressive, creative, and unique. Amazingly, these scenes are not rare gems. Almost the whole movie is an action sequence, even to the point where the story progresses and characters develop during the action. To the surprise of other action movies, it works.

It wants to show you how modern it is with its jokes referencing Twitter, Baby Driver, Netflix, etc. Jokes and references fall flat here and there, but the film is still funny to some degree. And the jokes often reveal themselves to be interconnected with the plot later.
It has a really satisfying twist. Most people will realize Marta is not the killer pretty early, but seeing the case entangle is still surprising and rewarding.
