  Honestly think this is maybe the best adaptation of Stephen king's Whole Thing. It equally gets the genuine scares and the wacky characters and makes them both work within the movie's tone. This is in contrast to, say, The Shining which is of course great in its own right but not the best as a piece of adaptation. Anyway I love The Monkey, I was laughing my ass off, how does that guy get to be a pastor, why does the main guy look like the exact center point between James Franco and Peter Gallagher, who made that monkey so perfect? Lots of questions!

  There's a part where the scene opens and Luke Wilson's sitting on a metal bleacher and bangs a rock on it a few times. Then puts the rock in his pocket. It makes no sense and it's never explained. I couldn't pay attention for the rest of the movie
