Really enjoyed the way this was shot, edited, acted, and costumed but didn’t love the actual story — felt like a retread of the many other cult movies that have come out over the past few years (especially Blink Twice) and there are pacing issues.
You can tell this is Ariel’s first media job because she still thinks that famous people are fascinating. A few press junkets would cure her. (Ayo is great though, put Ayo in everything!)
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
the twist seems to be there to say “see, we need abortion rights because a child who is raped by a stranger during a home invasion shouldn’t be forced to give birth” and I agree with that obviously, but an adult woman who simply doesn’t want to be pregnant deserves abortion rights, too, and that situation is a whole lot more common.
I don’t get the hype! “the internet is bad,” “white women sure love Instagram photos of avocado toast,” “how do I, a white man, make BLM about….me” “sexting with emojis is crazy right” … without the covid stuff I’d think this was from 2013.
