    "I Spit on Your Grave" is a horrific and masterful piece of horror film-making... For the first 45 minutes.

    The film tells a very scary and often very disturbing story, which has the audience genuinely disturbed throughout some of the acts of rape, torture and violence that it depicts. However, the film makes some very crucial mistakes and, ultimately, becomes just another grindhouse flick.

    In what is ultimately his best film, Kevin Smith explores the light and dark sides of a relationship to the degree that very few filmmakers are able to do. This is seriously up there with Annie Hall and (500) Days of Summer as one of the greatest portrayals of love and friendship I have ever seen. The geeky references always feel as authentic as the subject matter, and the performances are top notch.
