Holy Shai Hulud this is maybe the most epic cinematic experience I’ve ever seen. First off I will say I am hugely biased as a Dune fanatic and have greatly been anticipating this sequel. But even going into it knowing how much action and intensification we were poised to receive, I was blown away for 166 minutes straight.
Denís is the real messiah here for what he was able to bring to life - from all his childhood and lifelong imagination…
Don’t let your incredible skills of context clues let you wait to turn on the subtitles. Lots of French dialogue and it keeps going but seriously captivating the whole time and brilliant cast.
Carey Mulligan is a mofo’in actor! Damn she was good. And Bradley cooper was solid too. They did this thing where almost ever scene ended with or was made up entirely of a slow zooming steady shot close up of the characters. In a way it felt like they were really trying to take away the feeling of it being a movie and let us just sink into the moment with the characters as if we were there.
Early acting had me worried but as the plot settled in they grew into their roles. All of the side characters I thought were fantastically unique and fresh. Cheesy the whole way through but a fun movie for sure.
PS the ending montage was awesome and might warrant an extra credit star ⭐️
