Aftersun 2022
The first time I watched this, I enjoyed it. In the following weeks, it stuck with me, particularly the emotional crescendo of the last act. Upon second viewing, the big insights from small moments really shined and I was more emotionally affected than I have been by any other film in recent memory. This is not necessarily the best film of 2022 but it is absolutely my favorite.

Well, it wasn’t me first question, was it? “But what about me?” was me first question.
I have so much to say that I can’t really capture it here, but I think this is the best movie to come out of 2022, a year that was stacked with really great films. The elements—the shot composition and pops of color; the Civil War backdrop; the banshee lore; Colin Farrell’s eyebrows—all come together beautifully in this somewhat magical, emotionally resonant story.
