The Host 2006
This film is a bizarre mix of political satire, family drama, and monster chaos. Although the CGI is dated, and I could see how some could find the genre mixing irritating or unfunny, for me this film works on almost all levels. I was lucky to catch this film at an art house theater screening, and man it is phenomenal. The more I watch of Bong Joon-Ho, the more I fall in love with his style. I strongly recommend this…

I have seen this film a few times now, and every time I do I get sucked right back into the universe of the movie. I mean everyone is going to tell you “it’s disturbing” but like I think this movie is more than the general consensus. I think the story is very interesting and the movie is pretty well paced. Obviously it’s got its horror elements but it’s got a compelling protagonist and interesting characters. There’s a lot of detail, and that’s something I admire. This film is a very entertaining experience. Watch it!
