The Substance 2024
Overall thought it was very strong until the last act. It gets repetitive at times but never boring. It allows the audience to marinate in the mental (and eventual physical) deterioration of Moore’s character as she succumbs to her insecurities and loses control of what she’s created. It is effective at making us squirm as we anticipate what sad and gross inevitabilities await us at the end. I thought it had the makings of a thoroughly immersive and disturbing story.…
