I was expecting a parody of John Mayer’s ‘Whisky Whisky Whisky’, but instead I got the gaslighting hunger games featuring an outdated TikTok trend and a lot of illicit drugs.
The suspense was fun, the acting was very good, and I enjoyed the score - but I just could not connect with the characters’ decision making. Especially after they killed my homie Greg.

While it’s disappointing we never get to see a Vector or Gru cameo, this movie slaps. Sam Rockwell kills every scene, and you connect with his character immediately. Luckily Sam isn’t a minor, so GERTY didn’t get any funny ideas.
Part of me wishes it was longer, but it delivers in 90 minutes what most films can’t. Sam physically deteriorating and coming to accept he’ll never meet the family he thought was his own is brutally and solemnly captivating.
No wonder Gru wanted to steal the moon. No bananas here though, unfortunately.

I wasn’t expecting the sequel to The Polar Express to be so violent - but I’m pleasantly surprised. I find it particularly interesting that this time around, instead of skidding across an ice lake, they smashed into a town killing at least a few hundred people. The juxtaposition there is fascinating. Also odd that they replaced Tom Hanks and his golden tickets with an anime furry.
