  A refreshing coming of age story that is both equally as funny as it is touching. Plenty of times in the film where I laughed out loud but also felt my heartstrings being played. Although we see tremendous growth in the story unfolding withDidi, the character development/growth we see in Joan Chen’s character was equally critical to this movie’s story and success. For me, that was someone that resonated with me the most- there’s nothing like a parent’s (in this case, mother’s) love/sacrifice, especially within immigrant communities.

Following
