Yeah, full disclosure - I only watched this to swoon over young Orson Welles.
Other than that, this is a shameful adaptation of one of my favorite books.

After ten years (3 of which I was in film school) I finally watched Citizen Kane. Personally, I do not believe this deserves the title of best movie ever made. But then again, which film does?

A perfectly measured and calculated movie. Nothing that happens is an accident. What caught my attention the most was how Welles used the background and reflections for action, and how the characters were always unaware of those seemingly obvious things happening behind them.
Wonderful resolution, beautifully written characters, and a near perfect cinematography.

Listen, I get the point of the movie. But if I had a love like Arthur’s I’d forget all about a crush I had at 12. “You dream in a language that I can’t understand,” “You make my life so big.” Get out of here.
Also, the imagery of Nora arriving in NY at sunset and Hae Sung leaving at dawn is so so interesting.
