  A masterclass in suspense. Postmodern detective story with all the classic tropes, but a sticky eeriness that stays with you.

  What a gut punch of a movie. Brilliant storytelling and cinematography. Harry Dean Stanton is unreal as Travis, but the whole cast is amazing.

  What I love about this movie is how tasteful and layered the characters are. I can't do it justice on a Letterboxd review. But it's a deeply human movie, and well worth your time.

  Edit: coming back to this review, the next day, to add what I felt at an instinctual level but thought was probably just recency bias:

  this is one of the greatest movies I've ever seen.
