  This might be the most visually pleasing movie I’ve ever seen, and if you go through the reviews of this movie, I’m definitely not alone. I’m grateful to have a blu-ray of this movie to get the best visuals possible, and I would absolutely kill to see this on a big screen.

  Very moving film that’s anchored by a fantastic performance by Fernanda Torres. She would be my pick for Best Actress. Grounded in real events, this movie shows the horror of military occupation and systemic corruption and how injustice affects not just the victim but everyone around them.

  Captures the complicated nature of being human. We love someone and then can’t stand them, perhaps hate them. We love ourselves and then bemoan our situation. Life is trying to find balance, being there for others, and, perhaps most importantly, loving ourselves and others despite our flaws. 

  This humanity is juxtaposed against one of the most inhumane times in our world history. A time when humans were tortured and killed for being “other”. 

  The beauty of life is in connection, not division.
