Second trip to the cinema in Mexico this year.
I burst out laughing when I heard the Spanish VA for the big-eared elf speak for the first time AND when my aunt turned to me and said in English "What do you call these type of things in Britain? A shitter?"
The visuals and soundtrack are great (ily zutomayo). Unfortunately, however, a little tired of the two main characters arguing - often for no good reason - and the numerous "grab my hands" moments.
Can't help but feel this movie had more potential to dig deeper. What were the other kids there for? We find out nothing about their characters except one wants to go to Florida...
After watching, I read up on the real story and damn it's so much more tragic...
Great emotional and nuanced performances, especially from Zac and more Maura Tierney.
Definitely worth the watch.
