Ode to My Father 2014
Such an emotionally resonant story, but even still, it contained beats of comedy throughout its 2 hour runtime. I laughed, cried, and received an existential crisis by the end of it. It just hits so much harder knowing that my grandfather had an upbringing very similar to the protagonist. What an amazing film.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
This is basically the cotton candy of modern films; all fluff no substance. This movie could easily have been an hour and a half long. Lots of the movie is just them doing nothing. It also just felt completely useless story-wise as it’s basically just a prequel for the part 2 that isn’t even confirmed yet. The characters also weren’t developed nearly enough. When apparently important characters were killed, I felt no emotion at all. Nevertheless, I’ll probably still watch the sequel as the premise behind the film is fairly interesting.
