It's an odd romance at the heart of this story, with some emotions from characters going unexplained, likely as a result of context being removed in the adaption of André Aciman's novel and Luca Guadagnino's fondness for hard-to-follow plots. The film is beautiful though, both in its cinematography and soundtrack. The cinematography perfectly compliments the emotions felt by the main character, with touches, textures, smells and temperatures all swirling to create a full sensory guide to Elio's feelings.
