A classic, feel good buddy comedy for today’s sensibilities and humor. Really nice to see these kinds of films on the big screen again. Solid performances from Keke Palmer and SZA hold this film down, and a hilarious supporting appearance from Katt Williams was the icing on the cake for me. The rest of the supporting cast can be pretty one note at times, but not in a hugely distracting way. A good time at the movies for sure.

The Room Next Door 2024
Solid performances all around, but clunky dialogue holds this film back. Really picks up towards the end, though. Interesting meditations on our own power over our lives kept me engaged and thinking about the film after I left, and it inspired good conversations with my friends who saw it, but the film itself isn’t anything to write home about.

My Old Ass 2024
While it does contain an interesting and, at times, thought and emotion provoking deconstruction of human sexuality not often seen in coming of age films, the movie is, overall, a mediocre coming of age film. It leans into easy choices and cliches too much to make its interesting premise worthwhile. Decent performances from the cast are held back by less than stellar dialogue. Carter Trozzolo eats as Spencer, my favorite diva. Had a good time at the movies with my gf tho, so can’t complain.
