The Red Ball Express 1952
Dubya dubya deux picture Budd Boetticher cranked out before his western heyday. Generally speaking pretty solid, if a little less muscular (or just light on action) compared to his other stuff. Points for following in the wake of the previous year's The Steel Helmet and exploring racial tension amongst soldiers, but then minus some for an interlude in a village with a French patriarch doing mugging faces.

Metropolis 1927
Last seen by me the summer between being a high school senior and a college freshman. Strange I didn’t actually remember much of this considering it’s one of the most pleasurable films ever made in terms of form. But then again at age 18 I thought Greenberg was a profound movie.

Lynch on frequent collaborator Dean Hurley in the DVD special features: "I really don't like Dean as a person but he's a fantastic sound man."
