The Great Beauty 2013
I got lost in the Céline quote and should have recognized that it was a warning. It’s a long journey to discover yourself and it never crumbles like a biblical wall, but more tiny earthquakes that move giant plates. Beautifully shot; Rome always showing it’s historic corners as another round of molders and commentators pass it by - soon to be forgotten . I wanted to pretend I was Jep throughout and that kept me in a malaise for days post. Maybe a bit long but maybe necessary. Not sure I’ll see it again, because I loved it and you can’t go back.
