The Escheresque visuals offset a story and soundtrack filled with remarkably unoriginal tropes. The "Dance Baby Dance" sequence, for instance, was done earlier (and better) by Cary Grant in "The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer." In fact nothing happens in this film that isn't some sort of play on the "we have to go find the thing to get us to the other thing" trope.
