  I hate the phrase “they don’t make films like this anymore”, but The Conformist may just be the exception. A masterful film executed with precision in all departments; from Bernardo Bertolucci’s inspired direction, the  Midas touch the Vittorio Storaro’s cinematography that’s leaps ahead of its time (perhaps even ours), and stellar ensemble work from the likes of Jean-Louis Trintignat, Stefania Sanderelli and most of all, Dominique Sanda’s fearless supporting role.   Nomadland 2020

  Excellent slice-of-life neorealism, gravitating around a chameleon performance by Frances McDormand. Chloe Zhao’s cast of real life nomad breaths some melancholic life into the sparse narrative, allowing for a great reflection on post-Recession America.

  A weirdly great art piece by one of my favorite directors. Spares in plot but makes up for it in sheer absurdism, definitely showcases the trashy weirdness from Korine that I love. Definitely do not recommend if he is not your cup of tea.
