“What must one offer up to obtain the truth of our world?”

Finding an anime this good feels rare—this one easily became my instant favorite. The journey was intense, emotional, and unforgettable! 🌎

Through the journeys of Rafal & other characters, we're reminded to continually question our beliefs while maintaining an open mind in the pursuit of truth. Both absolute doubt & unwavering conviction can be equally destructive. Thus, always doubt your beliefs just as you trust them.

Naoko Yamada did it again! The theme is beautifully explored, intertwining emotions, faith, and self-discovery in a way that feels so genuine. The friendship between Totsuko, Kimi, and Rui is so heartwarming and effortlessly charming—every moment they share is filled with warmth, humor, and sincerity. The animation is absolutely stunning, with colors and compositions that perfectly capture every emotion. And the music too—I love it so much. Each song carries a deep sense of nostalgia, almost like being transported somewhere else. A truly special film about human connections, believing in yourself, and embracing your own colors. I loved every second of it!

as always, japan and their disease-themed films. even though this film has a cliché theme, i never get tired of watching it. especially with nagase ren and deguchi natsuki starring together in this movie. ugh, i just love this pair. i hope they can be reunited in another film or drama with a happy storyline.

as a huge fan of the manga, the live-action adaptation does feel a bit rushed and lacks some of the emotional depth and expressiveness that made the original story so compelling. the raw struggles with art and self-discovery—those vivid, gut-wrenching moments—don’t fully translate here. but if you’re just a casual viewer, it’s a solid film that stands well on its own.

that said, i was genuinely excited to see one of my favorite manga brought to life, especially with gordon…
