Nadine is selfish and shortsighted. I also hate how relatable she is and how attacked this movie still makes me feel as a dude in my late 20s lol.

The most unrealistic part of this film is how quickly Nadine, her brother, and Krista make nice after one apology session.

Visceral, spot on satire that picks apart the male gaze in Hollywood.

I didn’t understand body horror as a genre before this film. I understand now.

I heard Bill Skarsgård worked with an opera singer, practiced Mongolian throat singing, and had a 30 minute vocal routine before shoots to get into the voice. Still don’t understand where he pulls that voice from, but it’s so ridiculously captivating. Also, his rolling R’s scratch an itch in my brain.

    Lily-Rose Depp deserves some awards.

Visuals go crazy. The blue-black color grade for the night scenes made it feel like a b/w film.

Details. Details. Details. Robert Eggers is an absolute artist.

I don’t think this one is for the casual.

    1. I grew up a Catholic school boy my entire life. I’ve always imagined the politics of the Vatican to be dramatic, but not Mean Girls-gossip-sabotage level dramatic. Makes sense though.

    2. A conservative Cardinal like Tedesco being a vape lord is more believable than the final twist of the film. Probably not possible, but the idea of it and its implications are wild to entertain.

    3. That one scene with the aerial-view of all the cardinals walking through the plaza with umbrellas?? My God, that’s art.
