Not a musical, not a drama, not a comedy either... this film tries to mix all genres but the outcome is quite poor. Forget the plot, it’s only worth watching for Christina and Cher’s remarkable singing (not acting) performances, yet completely detached from the storyline

The best sing-along Hollywood musical to date. This film has been critized for a plot not particularly convincing; in my opinion, the single tunes of the soundtrack are so powerful in underlying the evolution of the storyline that no lack of consistency is actually felt. Among them, “This is me” is the most empowering tribute to diversity ever seen on a screen. All cast is perfectly matched for a great choral experience one will hardly forget
