  Movie was gorgeous as all Makoto Shinkai’s movies are. However I feel like the romance wasn’t as strong as the one in Your Name (perfect IMO) or the themes as strong as the ones in Weathering with You ( I feel like the ending to that movie serves as a perfect wrap and to drill the point further). Suzume is a great character, but Souta feels empty, and the romance feels forced in a way that really turned me against the movie. All in all a worthy watch, but pales in comparison to its predecessors.

  Holy fuck I'm writing this as soon as I got out of the theater and my hands are still shaking and my heart is racing. I went alone in an empty theater so I was fully immersed. The last 45 minutes are BRUTAL. I have never been more scared of a cinematic experience in my life, this shit will haunt my nightmares. The only reason why I don't give it 5 stars is because the first hour is so slow. This movie is not for everyone but if you meet it where it's at I swear you will have one of the most stressful experiences ever.
