Definitely not the worst Marvel movie of the last few years.

The biggest problem is that they give away the whole Red Hulk surprise from the very beginning and trailers. Without a good plot twist there’s not much to keep things interesting here.

Harrison Ford is just not good in this movie.

This movie had all of Marvel’s typical flaws— formulaic, lame villain, self-seriousness, unfunny quips, artistically and politically neutral to the extreme.

It was like a filler episode in the long-running MCU series.

Good acting, especially Hepburn, and clever dialogue. Definitely in the spirit of Much Ado About Nothing.

I didn’t like the ending. And not my favorite role for Jimmy Stewart. Haven’t seen much Cary Grant to have a judgment on him, but I didn’t love his character in this.

A few friends recommended this one to me, and it exceeded my high expectations. So delightful and funny and poignant. Loved the period New England set design and photography. The scene where Angus kisses the girl. The intro credits were so stylish. Paul Giamatti was perfect casting and did an amazing job as the snobbish, self-isolating academic. Lots to love and reflect on here. Honestly a perfect film start to finish.

Look, as a movie I really enjoy this. Miles Teller and Jk Simmons are great. The soundtrack and pacing are 👍

But I do think this movie misrepresents jazz and the artistic process, to the detriment of both.

It glorifies an abusive, gatekeeping teacher. It fetishizes ambition, vindicating self harm and a self destructive lifestyle. It shows music as competitive one-upsmanship, rather than as a creative collaboration. Miles’ character hardly interacts with the other students; there is no camaraderie, only…
