  This really isn’t that cinematic of a story. It’s a remarkable one, for sure, but not terribly nuanced. However, if you want to see an all-time what’s-this-guy’s-problem sort of guy, watch the documentary this is based on. Dave comes across as a real dead-eyed weirdo. A hero, yes, but still.

  A Die Hard that is only spends about 20% of the runtime actually Die Harding. Clive Owen is barely in it. This whole thing just reeks of barely-salvaged-in-the-edit. I don’t know what sort of movie they intended to make, but this can’t be it.

  This is a brilliant movie. Incredible script, shots, production design. A heavyweight cast. Freeman is incredible, but Brad Pitt is doing some interesting stuff that I notice more each time I watch. Richard Schiff chews a scene. Fincher’s whole thing was operational and on display throughout. Just a perfect detective film. There might be a few as good, but I can’t currently think of a better one.
