Wish I liked this more than I did. Undoubtedly phenomenal performances from Liv Ullmann and Ingrid Bergman, but I wish we could have seen more of their relationship rather than spend a majority of the movie recounting it. Maybe this would have been more powerful for me if I had a lived experience closer to theirs.

Yi Yi 2000
There’s so much magic in this movie. A sprawling piece on modern life that transcends country, generation, and time. The cinematography casts the city setting as its own character that everyone deals with and learns from in their own way. Also, Yang-Yang and Ota are two of the most lovable characters ever put to film.
