felt like a perfect balance between Ford and Jones.
also interesting watching 90s movies and seeing how different police procedurals are before any recent technological advances.

the fireworks sequence is probably some of my favorite of Joel’s work.
“do you think you’ve already experienced the best day of your life?” is a line of dialogue that echoes throughout the rest of the movie. even the characters who didn’t hear the question seem to be affected by it.
OHIO PREMIERE AT WEXNER CENTER FOR THE ARTS (with Guy Maddin in person)
having only seen My Winnipeg before, it was interesting seeing what’s changed and what has stayed the same in Maddin’s style. i am interested in looking into Evan & Galen Johnson’s work now.
the Q&A after the screening with Maddin was enlightening, hearing the process of which plot threads the directors decided to follow and which ones they avoided.
i think going in i expected more of a horror element, but i was pleased with approach the film took.
i need to rewatch the other Alien films to properly compare, but this film on it’s own was entertaining.
